Historical, political or economic context in which the plan/project is proposed

To solve the housing problem of the young capital Ankara, German architect Paul Bonatz (1877–1956) has designed not only residential blocks, but also kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, and other public buildings. 642 housing units are constructed with six main building typologies. It is possible to observe the architectural efforts of the 1940s’ Turkey for finding a modernist language that reflect the traditional architectural characteristics.
