Athina Vitopoulou

Job Title: Assistant Professor Institutional affiliation: School of Architecture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki AUTh)

Architect eng. (School of Architecture, AUTh) with an expertise in urban design and urban and town planning history (DEA Projet architectural et urbain: théories et dispositifs, Ecoles d'Architectures/IFU-Université Paris 8; PhD in History and Cultures, EHESS, Paris). Her PhD research was awarded in France the “Grand Prix de Thèse sur la Ville 2011”. Since graduation, she has been active in the fields of Urban Design and Planning and has participated as a team member in urban design and planning projects and architectural competitions. She has developed a reach research, teaching and writing activity on issues related to the theory and practice of urban design and planning, environmental design, urban policies, land policies, mechanisms and processes of urban space production, urban and town planning history, institutional framework of spatial planning, protection and enhancement of urban cultural heritage. Since 2018 she is Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture, AUTh.
