Il paesaggio di Capri: immaginari e tutela tra Ottocento e Novecento/The Capri landscape: Imaginary and preservation, between 19h and 20th centuries
Fabio Mangone
Abstract
In the nineteenth century, the discovery of the Capri landscape by European intellectuals and artists trigger a complex phenomenon. Around the former island of Emperor Tiberius, interpreted as a flap of the Far East, many fascinating imaginary landscapes are built. On this basis, in the years of Fascism, the island - considered as an important part of Italian identity - became one of the main places to discuss and test new theories on landscape conservation.
