Le città italiane e l’Ancsa: mezzo secolo di proposte, dibattiti e battaglie sui centri storici

Mauro Volpiano

Abstract

The text deals with the debate on the preservation and transformation of Italian historic centres in the second half of the 20th century, through the emblematic experiences that took place in a number of cities, from Milan to Matera, from Turin to Palermo. The essay was published in the context of a critical review of over half a century of activity by the Associazione Nazionale Centri Storico-Artistici, with particular reference to the Gubbio International Prize which, since 1990, has rewarded the best urban regeneration projects for historic centres in Italy and abroad.
