L’associazionismo degli architetti e degli ingegneri in Italia

Abstract
In the context of the monographic issue of the journal of the Society of Architects and Engineers in Torino dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the association (edited by Luigi Falco and Mauro Volpiano, 2013), the author explores the role of technical associations between the 19th and 20th centuries and their importance in defining the coordinates of the debate on the city during the years of national unification and industrialisation. Engineers and architects are central figures in structuring the technical and regulatory debate, but also the wider discourse characterised by complex social, political and economic challenges.
